In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to take a hands-on deep dive into the sophisticated world of the honeybee and learn about how important they are for our planet. We will be passing around beekeeping tools and materials throughout the talk so that you can really grasp a better understanding about the material covered. After the talk, a honey tasting will commence where each participant will have the opportunity to taste 3 different types of local honey! Oh don't forget about your free jar of local honey to take home!

Locally Grown Dried Flower Wreath Workshop

Locally Grown Dried Flower Wreath Workshop

Create a one-of-a-kind dried flower wreath to showcase your creativity and add seasonal flair to your fall or holiday decor, all while supporting a local flower farm. Designer Conner Parrish of Blossoming Roots Flower Farm will guide you in using dried flower material from the farm to create a base wreath on a grapevine form. You’ll add a variety of distinct dried flowers harvested from the farm and various seasonal decorations. We’ll have cookies, hot cider and hot chocolate available (included) to snack on while you work on your wreath.

Hurry—the first two wreath workshops we offered for Fall 2023 sold out almost immediately, so we added two more wreath workshop opportunities. Reserve your space soon, as we expect these workshops to sell out too!

Pressed Flower Art: History, Pressing and Card-Making Workshop

In this creative workshop, we’ll dive into the history of the ancient pressed-flower art form. Each participant will receive their very own flower press kit and instructor Conner Parrish will demonstrate how to properly harvest, prepare, and press local flowers. Then we’ll get crafty by designing four pressed-flower notecards using flower materials from Conner’s local farm in Ashland, Blossoming Roots Farm and Supply. Each participant will be able to take home their flower press kit, pressed-flower notecards and will have the knowledge needed to create pressed flower artwork at home!

Pressed Flower Bookmark Workshop at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens!

Join us for this fun and creative maker night, hosted at the Garden’s Cafe! Instructor Conner Parrish will kick the evening off with a brief history of the ancient pressed-flower art form. We’ll get crafty as we create five bookmarks using real pressed flowers from Blossoming Roots Farm and Supply, a local farm in Ashland. The bookmarks you make will be yours to take home and could make a wonderful gift for friends or family this holiday season.
